What does "anti-wardrobing" mean?

Modified on Wed, 18 Oct, 2023 at 4:39 PM

Anti-wardrobing refers to a dishonest practice by some consumers where they purchase items, use or wear them once (often for a special occasion), and then return them for a refund. This tactic essentially allows them to use the product without bearing the cost. The term stems from the idea of temporarily adding to one's wardrobe and then returning the items. Brands and retailers often implement measures, like the aforementioned abuse tape, to counteract this behavior and protect against such returns.
